They don't drill for oil

Mint Clinic's family is growing and to celebrate this fact we decided to do a traditional photo shoot to welcome the new members. As usually, the event turned from a strictly professional shoot into a fun team building with pizza, drinks and dancing. Who said hard work is tough? Check out behind the scenes:

Do you love Instagram? Will you still love it with ads?

After being acquired from Facebook, photo-sharing service Instagram announced that it will start showing sponsored content. Even though ad posts are not something new to modern applications, the news still raised some discussions about the value of brands and the way they monetize their popularity.

Surpise x 2

We couldn’t help sharing this since we’re huge fans of Wacom’s products. Earlier this year the company announced the release of a new graphic tablet in the summer of 2013. What’s the catch? They pulled out not one, but two tablets. The new Cintiq Companion and Companion Hybrid bring Wacom’s pressure-sensitive graphics power to creative pros in standalone devices. We can’t wait to give it a try.

Who’s up for a challenge?

After a two-day workshop in beautiful Tampere, we’re happy to greet our new Finnish partners from TeamUp Oy, an ambitious start-up aiming to change the online social environment. We’re also thrilled to announce that TeamUp were among the winners of the 2013 Red Herring's Top 100 Europe Award, a prestigious list honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the European business region.

Ever wondered how the future would look like?

Not any more. IBM's annual "5 in 5" prediction report is out, revealing some stunning facts about the near future. The predictions revolve around the idea that future computers (and by future we mean computers by 2018) will have a sensibility similar to our 5 senses - they will be able to see, smell, hear, touch and taste. Imagine buying a dress online and being able to feel the fabric just by touching your tablet's screen...or breathing towards your smart-phone in order to get a diagnosis...It sure looks like the best is yet to come!

Coca-Cola revamps its website

Last week the corporation changed completely their corporate site, now called Coca-Cola Journey. The new web design is focused on user experience and suggests a dialogue rather than explain and inform about the product itself. This endeavor shows again that the Coca-Cola brand has grown even more in equity, firming its place as a people's brand. The new magazine-like portal is engaging and easy to use, let alone fresh and modern. The only thing we at SB would change? Totally get rid of the drop shadows beneath all titles. This is so 2003.

EE to celebrate 4G with a 4minute 4D projection

UK mobile operator EE (created by the team that first brought Orange and T-Mobile together in 2010) launched its new 4G mobile and fibre broadband service in eleven cities across UK on October 30th. A large event was held at Battersea Power Station with an impressive 4D projection on the facade of the signature 4-chimney building to promote the new superfast network.

Google tops the list of 100 best companies to work for

With one of the highest employee salaries, health insurance plans and well...quite some entertainment in the office (bowling alley, table-tennis, etc.), Google, previously No 4 in the list, has now moved all the way to the top. Although Google is surely a fun place to work and might look a bit too casual, it does raise its revenue, profit and share price every year. Other companies that made it to the top 15 this year include: Zappos, Mercedes -Benz and DreamWorks Animation.

The new Windows experience

With the launch of the new Windows 8 and Windows RT the tech sphere has moved into a new era. Quite behind Apple and Samsung only until recently, Microsoft has made a huge leap into the new generation of tech gadgets. The only thing Microsoft could have done better is carefully scheduled the launch of their new products separately. Creating a buzz over several new products is totally fine, however it's a bit confusing for the average consumer to see the subtle differences between the new Windows options. Anyway Microsoft has made a small revolution in the category and we're all filled with high hopes for the future of this brand. Way to go with the colors!

Are Nokia to beat Google in their own game: The case

Nokia's latest initiative focuses on providing a better experience while using virtual maps. Starting as a direct competitor to Google maps, Nokia's maps have a stunning 3D views, public transport routes, traffic conditions and all sorts of useful things. Even though the site is quite slower than Google maps, it does have a great potential. As the guys from Nokia claim "HERE is about more than searching for addresses or getting from A to B. It’s about living, breathing places, full of stories and memories and possibilities".
